Why Foran’s Roofing is your number one choice…

With over 48 years of roofing experience, we have become one of the largest Commercial Flat Roofing Companies in the province (non-union). With exceptional workmanship and incredible value, our customers appreciate the professional service we provide, every time. With a wide range of capabilities, there is no roof we cannot service. We are recognized by two of the largest single-ply membrane manufacturers in the world as being accredited installers, and even hold the prestigious designations of “Master Contractor” from FireStone and “Excellence in Single-Ply” from Carlisle.

Single Ply Membranes

EPDM

Over the last 45 years, EPDM has gained industry-wide acceptance and respect by providing both immediate and long-term roofing solutions. During that time, EPDM has also racked up some impressive numbers in the low-slope roofing market. As of last year, roofing contractors had installed well over 500,000 warranted EPDM roof systems, representing 20 billion-plus square feet of roofing membrane. No other single-ply system even comes close. On the new construction side, more than one billion square feet of EPDM are specified annually. According to the EPDM Roofing Association, black EPDM roofs account for more than 52% of roofing installations in the northern U.S. (ASHRAE Climate Zones 4 and above). What’s more, the National Roofing Contractors Association credits EPDM with holding 25% of the commercial low-slope roofing market, making it the leader for new construction and reroofing applications. Weather ability is the key reason why more EPDM roofs continue to perform in the existing inventory than any other single-ply membrane. In addition to excellent weathering characteristics, EPDM is a low maintenance roofing system that offers superior wind, hail and fire resistance.

TPO

Thermoplastic single-ply roofing membranes are among the fastest growing commercial roofing products and have gained broad industry acceptance for their many performance and installation advantages. As demand increases for heat-reflective and energy efficient roofing systems, thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) single-ply roofing membranes continue to provide exceptional resistance to ultraviolet, ozone and chemical exposure

TPO Benefits

  • Outstanding reflectivity for enhanced energy efficiency. White reflective surfaced exceeds the EPA ENERGY STAR® requirements and is listed with the Cool Roof Rating Council.
  • Superior rooftop performance. TPO exhibits outstanding resistance to degradation from ultraviolet (UV) radiation, ozone, chemical exposure and microbial growth.
  • Excellent durability and high strength. TPO’s scrim-reinforced membrane provides enhanced puncture, tear and abrasion resistance.
  • Exceptional wind resistance. TPO Wide-Weld Systems provide higher wind uplift ratings than traditional single-weld systems.
  • Simple and economical installation. Heat-welded seams form a homogeneous bond by fusing the top and bottom sheets together. The seams actually are stronger than the membrane itself.

Same as EPDM, TPO Systems are available in Ballasted, Mechanically Attached, and Fully Adhered.

Will a thinner membrane fatten your bottom line?

Sure, for now. But take a minute to think about why some of the country’s most savvy, bottom-line driven businesses, such as Wal-Mart and Lowe’s, have increased their standards from 45-mil to 60-mil TPO. A roof is not a short-term investment, and therefore, the cost of your roof must be analyzed over its entire lifetime compared to just the installed cost. The first step in understanding the long-term benefits is to know why thicker membrane is better.

What is BUR? (Tar and gravel)

Built-Up Roofing Systems require the construction of multiple waterproofing membrane layers on the rooftop using roofing felt material and hot asphalt. Consequently, they are subject to a number of environmental and workmanship factors that, if not controlled, can lead to early crazing, splitting, blow off and even the percolation of water right through the waterproofing layers. Combine these factors with extremely poor resistance to ultraviolet light and it’s easy to see why “pre-manufactured” single-ply roofing systems dominate the commercial roofing systems market.

Why Single Ply is the smarter choice…

Single ply roofing offers a number of benefits over traditional BUR (built up roofs). It is has a long life span (up to 40 year life expectancy), provides strength, durability, is Eco-friendly, and is available in a variety of materials and colors. Single ply roofing systems offer the advantages of rapid installation and lightweight construction. These systems provide high puncture and tear resistance, excellent dimensional stability, and high tensile strength. They offer superb resistance to ozone and UV exposure, extreme weather conditions, chemicals, and fire. During installation, no heavy equipment is required and the membrane can be applied during inclement weather.

Roof Warranty

A building’s roofing system is your first line of defense against the elements. Protect your roofing system investment with the strength of a Firestone or Carlisle warranty and maximize the life of your roof through regular maintenance. Carlisle and Firestone offer a variety of full system warranty options covering materials and workmanship. Depending on the commercial roofing system, terms of the warranty can range from five years to a comprehensive no-dollar limit, 30-year warranty.
